I am awed by great design and especially great design that keeps found objects out of the landfills. Taking a simple wine bottle, turning it into a functional object while delivering great design must be considered a great accessory. David Guilfoose is an artist living in Wisconson that is all about organic design and sustainable options. After being born and raised in upstate New York Guilfoose created the Green Wine Bottles in Seattle, Washington where he debuted his bottles at the historic Pike Place Market. Another move took Guilfoose to Wisconson where he now lives outside of Madison. Guilfoose "has designed these wine bottle lamps to enlighten the spirits. Made to hold tea candles, each hand cut and polished bottle rests upon a brass ring suspended from a thin stainless steel cable. Copper tubing spirals down from the ring, around a glass votive, ending with a corkscrew out the bottom of the bottle. The resulting sculptures are simply elegant in their form and function." _Hang these lamps from any location. Indoors a row of these bottles could be hung from the ceiling side by side creating a large art installation that glows - try it over a mantle, over a sofa, down the hallway or for a quirky display line up three over the back of the toilet. Outside they can hang side by side under a gazebo or pergola protecting the flame from wind. The vases were created by removing the neck forming a perfect proportioned vessel to hold natures elegantly simple stems. Love it, again! How simple is this arrangement? Twigs, leaves, and tallow berry branches create an organic design that shouts NATURE. Live plants have been proven to be oh so restful so why not use live cuttings from your yard or local florist. Repeating a simple image three times adds a complexity to the element without shouting visual disturbance. Give credit to Twigs & Moss for this creation. Got to love it anywhere in any room.
